We measured it
What the price history actually shows
Anyone can tell you that discount badges are misleading. We checked. Across 1,093 tracked listings we compared each product’s struck-through MRP against the price it has really been selling at over the past year — and the gap is not a rounding error. It is the entire discount.
- Listings measured across Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra
- 1,093
- How far the median MRP sits above the real selling price, from Amazon to Myntra
- 103–186%
- Products marked up in the weeks before a major sale, across 325 tracked through 2 festive seasons
- 19%
- Products that did genuinely end up cheaper during the sale than before it
- 79%
How inflated the MRP is, store by store
Each bar is how far the median listing’s MRP sits above the price that same listing typically sells at. At an ordinary price — no sale, no event — that arithmetic alone produces the badge shown on the right.
Amazon407 listings
+103%reads as 51% off
Flipkart579 listings
+137%reads as 58% off
Myntra107 listings
+186%reads as 65% off
A high MRP is not by itself dishonest — it is the manufacturer’s list price, and stores are entitled to show it. The narrower point is that the “% off” is calculated from that number rather than from any price the product has recently sold at, which is why it can stay large forever.
And what happens around the big sales
We followed 325 tracked products through the last two Big Billion Days and Great Indian Festival seasons, comparing a pre-sale baseline against the run-up and then against the lowest price recorded during the sale itself.
Flipkart Big Billion Days
83%beat the pre-sale price
19%were marked up first
183products followed
Amazon Great Indian Festival
73%beat the pre-sale price
20%were marked up first
142products followed
Both things are true at once, and that is the useful finding: the big sales are mostly real, and a meaningful minority of products are padded first. You cannot tell which is which from the listing — only from what the price was doing three weeks earlier.
How we measured this
For each tracked listing we take the median of every selling price we recorded for it over the last 365 days — its typical price — and compare that against the MRP shown on the listing. Only listings with at least five recorded prices in that window are counted, so a 'typical price' always rests on several observations. We report the median across listings, because a handful of extreme MRPs would drag a mean upwards.
Worth knowing: These are listings that have surfaced in our deal feeds, not a random sample of each store's full catalogue, so they over-represent products that get discounted. A high MRP is also not by itself dishonest — it is the manufacturer's list price, and stores are entitled to show it. The point is narrower: the '% off' badge is calculated from that number rather than from any price the product has recently sold at.
A price tracker for every store you actually shop
Same tracking, same alerts, same timeline — but each store discounts differently, and the numbers below are measured separately for each one.
Amazon Price Tracker
Amazon India repricing is fast and largely automated — lightning deals, coupon clips and bank offers stack on top of a list price that moves several times a day. Paste any Amazon product link to see its full timeline: the all-time low we have recorded, the price it usually sits at, and where today falls between them. Set a target and we watch it through Great Indian Festival, Prime Day and every quiet Tuesday in between.
- Median MRP above the real selling price
- +103%
- Median real drop on a live deal
- 32%
Flipkart Price Tracker
Flipkart runs a near-permanent sale banner, so the useful question is never whether there is an event on but whether the price behind it has moved. Our Flipkart tracking is what surfaces pre-sale drift — the products that quietly get more expensive in the weeks before Big Billion Days, which makes the opening-day discount look larger than it is.
- Median MRP above the real selling price
- +137%
- Median real drop on a live deal
- 38%
Myntra Price Tracker
Fashion is the category where MRP drifts furthest from reality, and Myntra is where we measure the widest gap of any store we track. A large share of the catalogue sits permanently below list price, so an End of Season Sale badge is close to meaningless on its own — the timeline is what separates a genuine markdown from a discount that has been running all year.
- Median MRP above the real selling price
- +186%
- Median real drop on a live deal
- 55%
How to check price history and buy at the right price
A price tracker does one job: it remembers. Online prices in India move constantly — the same product can swing by thousands of rupees between a regular week and a festival sale, and the discount badge beside it is calculated from MRP rather than from anything the product has recently sold for. Price History records the historical price of every product we track, so instead of guessing whether today is a good day to buy, you can look at what the thing has actually cost and decide with data. Price tracking here is free, needs no account to browse, and covers Amazon India, Flipkart, Myntra and Croma.
Track any product in seconds
Paste an Amazon, Flipkart or Myntra link — or search for the product by name. We start logging its price the moment you add it, and keep a full timeline of every change so you can see exactly what the product has cost over the past months. Nothing to install, no account needed to look.
Read the chart before you buy
Every tracked product gets a price history chart with its all-time low, its typical price and its current position in that range. A ‘50% off’ banner means nothing on its own — the chart tells you whether the discount is real or whether the seller simply raised the list price first.
Get alerted at your target price
Set the price you are willing to pay and we watch the product for you. When it drops to that number — during a Great Indian Festival sale, a Big Billion Days flash deal, or a quiet Tuesday restock — you get an instant alert by push, email or Telegram, so you stop refreshing the listing.
Compare across stores
The same phone, laptop or pair of shoes is often priced differently on Amazon, Flipkart and Myntra on the same day. We show the current price at each store side by side, so you buy from whichever one is genuinely cheapest right now rather than from whichever tab you happened to open.
Browse deals backed by data
Our latest and featured deal feeds are ranked by how good the discount is against the product’s own history, not against an inflated MRP. Deals sitting at or near an all-time low are flagged, so the best of the day is the first thing you see instead of the loudest badge.
Daily gold and silver rates
Beyond retail, we publish live 22K, 24K and 18K gold rates and 999, 925 and 800 silver rates for dozens of Indian cities, each with a one-year history chart — useful whether you are buying jewellery or tracking the metal as an investment.
Today’s gold and silver rates, city by city
Retail prices are not the only thing worth having a history for. Gold and silver rates in India differ by city because of local duties, making charges and dealer margins, and they move every single day. We publish 22K, 24K and 18K gold rates and 999, 925 and 800 silver rates for 34 and 18 cities respectively, each with a one-year chart behind it — so you can see whether today is expensive or cheap before you walk into a jeweller.

Price history and price tracking, explained
The questions we get asked most, answered with what the data actually shows.
What is price history, and why does it matter?
Price history is the record of what a product has actually cost over time, rather than what a listing claims it is worth today. It matters because the discount badge on an Indian e-commerce listing is calculated from MRP — the manufacturer's list price — and not from any price the product has recently sold at. Across the listings we have measured, the median MRP sits roughly double the real selling price, so an ordinary, undiscounted price can display as around 50% off. A price timeline is the only way to tell an actual drop from that arithmetic.
How does Price History actually track prices?
Our system constantly monitors thousands of products across major e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, and more. We store this pricing data to build comprehensive historical charts so you can see if you're really getting a good deal.
How do I check the price history of an Amazon India product?
Copy the product link from Amazon and paste it into the search box at the top of this page, or search for the product by name. If we already track it you will see its full timeline immediately — the all-time low, the typical price, and where today sits in that range. If it is new to us, we start recording it from that moment and alert you when it drops.
Can I track Flipkart and Myntra prices too?
Yes. Amazon India, Flipkart, Myntra and Croma all have full deal feeds and price timelines, and product pages show every store we track for the same item side by side, so you can see which one is genuinely cheaper today rather than which one has the louder banner.
Is the app completely free to use?
Yes! Price History is completely free to use. You can search products, view price graphs, and set price drop alerts without any hidden charges or subscription fees.
How do I set a price drop alert?
Simply search for the product you want to track, open its price history page, and click on the 'Set Alert' button. Enter your target price and email/phone, and we'll instantly notify you the moment the price drops to or below your target.
Does a bigger discount percentage mean a better price?
Usually not. The percentage is measured against MRP, and on more than half the listings we have checked the MRP is at least double what the product typically sells for. A '70% off' badge on a product whose MRP is three times its real price can be a worse deal than '25% off' on a product priced honestly. The number worth acting on is how far today's price sits below that product's own recorded history.
Do prices really rise before a big sale?
Sometimes, and we measured how often. Across 325 tracked products through two Big Billion Days and Great Indian Festival seasons, about 19% were marked up during the weeks immediately before the sale, which inflates the discount announced on opening day. The majority — around 79% — did genuinely end up cheaper than they had been. Tracking a product before a sale starts is what lets you tell which group it falls into.
Are the prices on the charts accurate?
We strive for the highest accuracy by updating prices multiple times a day. However, flash sales and lightning deals might end very quickly, so the current price on the retailer's site is always the final source of truth.
Do you sell anything or add to the price I pay?
No. Price History is not a store and does not sell anything. Every deal links out to the retailer, and you buy there at exactly the price you would have paid anyway. We add nothing to it.
Can I use Price History on my phone?
Absolutely! We highly recommend downloading our dedicated iOS or Android app for the best mobile experience, including instant push notifications for your price alerts.
